Barracudas continue perfect season at home
Louisburg’s Melia Rice swims to the finish in the 50-meter breaststroke during last Saturday’s meet against Golden Valley at the Louisburg Aquatic Center. The Barracudas defeated Golden Valley 437-133.
The Louisburg Barracudas had a chance to swim in their home waters for the first time this season and they didn’t disappoint.
Louisburg won its third consecutive meet to start the season as it defeated the Golden Valley Swim Club 437-133 last Saturday and ran away with another meet victory. The team out of Clinton, Mo., couldn’t keep up with the Barracudas as they dominated several age groups.
Sabra Brueggen (9- to 10-year-olds) and Madilyn Prettyman (15-and-over) had the best day of all the Barracudas as they finished with five first-place ribbons.
Jesse Faulkner (8-and-under), Claire Brown (9-10), Mable Graham (11-12), Emma Prettyman (11-12) and Sydney Keaton (13-14) each won four first-place ribbons on the girls side. Brayton Brueggen (11-12) and Trae Johnsen (15-and-over) both recorded four first-place finishes for the boys.
Madilyn Prettyman dominated her age division as she won the 50-meter freestyle in 29.94 seconds, the 50 butterfly in 30.28 and 200 individual medley in 2 minutes and 34.43 seconds.
