Barracudas beat Harrisonville in home opener

Louisburg’s Madelyn Prettyman swims her way to a first-place finish in the 50-meter butterfly on Saturday against Harrisonville at the Louisburg Aquatic Center. The Barracudas defeated Harrisonville 320-197.

 

In its first home action of the year, the Louisburg Barracuda swim team continued its perfect season when it hosted Harrisonville (Mo.) at the Louisburg Aquatic Center.

The Barracudas won their second straight meet 320-197 over Harrisonville on Saturday and had several swimmers that had successful days.

Madelyn Prettyman dominated the 15-and-over girls division as she was the lone Barracuda to earn five first-place finishes on the day. Seven other Louisburg swimmers each won four first-place ribbons.

Cricket McIntire (8-and-under), Ashley Branine (9-10) and Emma Prettyman (11-12) each won four events on the girls side, while Casey Carpenter-Ross (8-and-under), Josiah McCaskill (9-10), Cole Brown (13-14) and Remington Rice (13-14) captured four first-place ribbons in the boys division.

Madelyn Prettyman won three individual events and was a part of two relay victories for the Barracudas. Prettyman joined Kadiysn Kircher, Kaitlyn Lewer and Avery Graham to win the 200-meter medley relay in 2 minutes and 24 seconds and 200 freestyle relay in 2:11.

Madelyn also went on to win the 50 freestyle in 29.81 seconds, 50 butterfly in 30.11 and 200 individual medley in 2:33.

Also in the girls division, McIntire led the 8-and-under group as she won the 25 freestyle (22.57) and 100 IM in 2:32. She also teamed up with Ella Bockelman, Meg Johnson and Shylah Dowell to win the 100 medley relay (2:00) and 100 freestyle relay (1:40)

Ashley Branine won the 50-meter backstroke in the 9-10 girls division Saturday in Louisburg.

Branine performed well for the 9-10 girls as she opened the meet with a victory in the 100 medley relay. Branine, along with Hannah Farrington, Ella Dischinger and Jesse Faulkner, won that event (1:44) and 100 freestyle relay (1:26).

Branine also won a pair of individual races in the 50 breaststroke (56.37) and 50 backstroke (47.97).

Emma Prettyman also shined for the Barracudas as she won three individual events in the 50 freestyle (35.54), 50 butterfly (38.81) and 200 IM (3:23). Emma later joined Abby Bradley, Claire Brown and Tehya Harvey to win the 200 medley relay (2:57).

In the boys division, Cole Brown and Rice helped each other find success in the 13-14 category. Brown and Rice, along with Bridger Baus and Drake Burdine, won the 200 medley relay (2:52). Brown, Rice, Bridger Baus and Drake Baus won the 200 freestyle relay (2:27).

Rice won a pair of individual events, including the 50 freestyle (31.78) and 50 butterfly (38.05). Brown won the 50 breaststroke (50.29) and 200 IM (3:27).

Remington Rice swims the 50-meter butterfly and finished first Saturday against Harrisonville.

McCaskill helped Ethan Sharp, Samuel Johnson and Emmett White to a victory in the 100 medley relay (1:32), while he teamed up with Johnson, Canaan Clayton and White to win the 100 freestyle relay (1:18) in the 9-10 division. McCaskill later went on to win the 50 breaststroke (49.75) and 50 backstroke (47.59).

Carpenter-Ross had a big day in the 8-and-under division as he won three individual events as captured the 25 freestyle (20.53), 25 backstroke (24.88) and 100 IM (1:57). He also joined Colin Brown, Andrew Jamison and Noah Sharp to win the 100 freestyle relay (1:39).
