Barracudas complete perfect regular season

RAYTOWN, Mo. – The Louisburg Barracudas completed a perfect sweep of the South Suburban Swim League on Saturday when it traveled to face off with the Woodson Sharks.

The Barracudas had no problems with the Raytown, Mo., team as it rolled to a 344-173 victory over the Sharks to finish their regular season with a 4-0 record and will go for their ninth straight league title this Saturday when they travel to Clinton, Mo., for the finals meet.

Louisburg had four swimmers that won all five of their events and three more that captured four victories on the day.

Ashley Branine (9-to-10-year-old division) and Emma Prettyman (11-12) won five events on the girls side. Casey Carpenter-Ross (8-and-under) and Josiah McCaskill (9-10) grabbed five first-place ribbons for the boys.

Claire Brown (11-12 girls), Kadisyn Kircher (15-and-over girls) and Samuel Johnson (9-10 boys) each racked up four victories on the day.

Branine had a big day as she won the 50-yard freestyle in 36.22 seconds, 50 breaststroke in 49.64 and 50 backstroke in 42.03. She also joined three others to win a pair of relays. Branine, Lola Dubas, Jesse Faulkner and Hannah Farrington combined to win first-place ribbon in the 100-yard medley relay with a time of 1 minute and 35 seconds, while Branine, Farrington, Faulkner and Ally Brown won the 100 freestyle relay in 1:21.

Prettyman was also a part of two relay victories for the 11-12 girls as she joined Abby Bradley, Claire Brown and Tehya Harvey to win the 200 medley relay (2:42). Prettyman, Bradley, Brown and Dana Mattison won the 200 freestyle relay (2:24). Prettyman also went on to win the 50 butterfly (35.28), 50 backstroke (35.94) and 200 individual medley (2:59).

Carpenter-Ross led the 8-and-under boys with three individual wins in the 25 butterfly (23.83), 25 backstroke (20.82) and 100 individual medley (1:45). He also helped Colin Brown, Dominick Poetter and Andrew Jamison to a victory in the 100 medley relay (1:48), while Carpenter-Ross, Brown, Jamison and Spencer Mattison won the 100 freestyle relay (1:28).

Remington Rice swims to victory in the 50-yard freestyle for Louisburg on Saturday against Woodson.

McCaskill also won a pair of relays as he, Samuel Johnson, Conor Aadland and Colton Prettyman won the 100 medley relay (1:20), while McCaskill, Aadland, Johnson and Canaan Clayton captured the 100 freestyle relay (1:18). McCaskill also won the 50 freestyle (32.79), 50 breaststroke (43.15) and 100 IM (1:28).

Johnson also had a strong day for the 9-10 boys as he won the 50 butterfly (39.87) and 50 backstroke (40.92).

Claire Brown took first in the 50 freestyle (33.87) and 50 breaststroke (43.75) for the 11-12 girls, while Kircher led the older girls division with wins in the 50 freestyle (27.75), 50 butterfly (31.09) and 50 backstroke (31.22). She also helped Kaitlyn Lewer, Avery Graham and Melia Rice to a victory in the 200 medley relay (2:16).
