Barracudas coast to a win over Golden Valley
- Updated: June 20, 2018

Louisburg’s Claire Brown won five events in the 11-12 girls division Saturday against the Golden Valley Swim Club at the Louisburg Aquatic Center. The Barracudas rolled to a 367-157 victory.
It was another meet and another victory for the Louisburg Barracuda swim team Saturday.
The Barracudas hosted the Golden Valley Swim Club from Clinton, Mo., and coasted to a 367-157 victory over the Dolphins at the Louisburg Aquatic Center.
Louisburg also fared well individually as it had eight swimmers that won four or more first-place ribbons and three of them finished with five victories on the day.
Claire Brown (11-12 girls), Madelyn Prettyman (15-and-over girls) and Casey Carpenter-Ross (9-10 boys) each came away with five wins to lead the way for Louisburg. Emma Prettyman (13-14 girls), Kadisyn Kircher (15-and-over girls), Dominick Poetter (8-and-under boys), Josiah McCaskill (11-12 boys) and Remington Rice (13-14 boys) each ended up with four victories.
Brown picked up three individual wins in the 50 butterfly in 41.92 seconds, 50 breaststroke in 44.53 and the 200 individual medley in 3:14. She also teamed up with Ashley Branine, Haley VanGilder and Hannah Farrington to win the 200 medley relay in 3:18 and then won the 200 freestyle relay with the help of Branine, Farrington and Megan Quinn.
Madilyn Prettyman also won a pair of relays as she joined Kircher, Kaitlyn Lewer and Isabelle Holtzen to win the 200 medley relay in 2:23, and also lined up with Kircher, Avery Graham and Holtzen to win the 200 freestyle relay in 2:11.
Madilyn also won three individual events in the 50 freestyle (30.10), 50 breaststroke (40.0) and 200 IM (2:36). Kircher also had a big day for the Barracudas as she captured the 50 butterfly (33.59) and 50 backstroke (34.12).
Carpenter-Ross shined for Louisburg as he won the 9-10 boys 50 freestyle (39.78), 50 butterfly (48.87) and 100 individual medley (1:44). He also teamed up with Colin Brown, Andrew Jamison and Braxton Koechner to win the 100 medley relay (1:35) and 100 freestyle relay (1:28).
Emma Prettyman captured three individual races and a relay for the 13-14 girls. She won the 50 freestyle (33.43), 50 butterfly (37.0) and 200 IM (3:09). Emma, Mable Graham, Emma Johnson and Delanie Tally also took first in the 200 medley relay in 2:44.
For the 8-and-under boys, Poetter won the 25 butterfly (31.91), 25 breaststroke (35.89) and 100 IM (2:18) and also teamed up with Matthew Farrington, Zeke VanGilder and Holden White to win the 100 freestyle relay (2:09).
McCaskill won two individual events and two relays to lead the 11-12 boys. McCaskill helped William Goode, Josh Holtzen and Samuel Johnson win the 200 medley relay (2:52) and 200 freestyle relay (2:38). He also finished first in the 50 freestyle (35.69) and 50 breaststroke (47.85).
