Louisburg FBLA ready for state competition after strong district showing
- Updated: March 27, 2023

Forty-eight students from Louisburg High School will attend the FBLA state convention this week in Topeka.
Attendance will be down at Louisburg High School towards the end of this week, but that is not a bad thing.
In fact, several Wildcat students will be making the trip to Topeka on Wednesday for the FBLA State Convention after a strong showing at the district competition earlier this year.
Louisburg will send 48 students to the state event as several qualified in multiple events at the district competition in Pittsburg.
“This year was our first year to compete at an actual district leadership conference since the 2019-20 school year,” Louisburg FBLA sponsor Adrianne Lane said. “It was a great experience for the students to be able to travel to an actual conference versus having a virtual one. They did great at districts and they all worked very hard to compete and place.”
Louisburg earned 14 district titles during that competition, while the top 10 in each event or test qualified for a spot to compete at state.
It was a year’s worth of preparation that led to a successful outing for the Wildcat program.
“The students spend a lot of time preparing the competition,” Lane said. “We had work nights weekly leading up to the competition so the students could be prepared and ready to compete.”
As much success as they had at districts, competition will ramp up this week at state in Topeka as several students will try to earn a spot at nationals. The top four in each event will qualify for the national competition in Atlanta in late June.
“(State) is a very big and competitive competition as chapters from all around the state of Kansas will be there,” Lane said. “This year we had 48 students qualify to compete and I am very excited to see how we will do this year..”
