Week 7 Athlete of the Week: Cooper Wingfield

Here is the Louisburg Sports Zone Athlete of the Week for week seven of the spring sports season, sponsored by Louisburg Family Dental.

COOPER WINGFIELD, JUNIOR, TRACK AND FIELD

Louisburg junior Cooper Wingfield etched his named into the Wildcat track history books last week at the De Soto Invitational. Not only did Wingfield win the pole vault event, he also broke a school record in the process. Wingfield cleared 15 feet, 7 inches to break the old record of 15-6 that was set by Jacob Albright in 2012.

Later on in the week, Wingfield went on to finish second at the Red Bud Classic in Wellsville. He currently has the best vault in Class 4A and is looking to return to the state podium after finishing as the state runner-up a year ago.

The athlete of the week award is announced every Wednesday morning during the spring season and the winner is selected by Louisburg Sports Zone with the help of nominations from coaches.
