Louisburg Soccer Starts Fresh After First Loss

The Louisburg boys soccer team suffered their first loss of the season last week against Eudora High School. While the loss was unfortunate, the Wildcats aren’t losing any momentum.
Last week, Louisburg was scheduled to play Lansing High School on Tuesday and Eudora High School on Thursday. Ultimately, Tuesday’s game was postponed due to rain until October 14th. On Thursday, the Wildcats fell short against Eudora and ended with a 1-2 loss. Even though the loss was disappointing, the Wildcats are ready to recover.
“The mistakes we made led to chances for Eudora, and a lot of them were mental errors so we are working to fix those,” head coach Dawson Schoning said.
The Wildcats aren’t letting the loss distract them from their end goal, a regional championship. While the first loss is hard, learning to start fresh this week is what players are focused on.
“The best teams don’t let losses like that affect them, and they learn from them…We also make sure that they understand that our goals don’t change,” Schoning said. Preventing last week from lingering over the team, while coming back stronger, is important this week.
A strength of the Louisburg Boys Soccer team is their communication on the field. Throughout the Eudora game, players were able to stay organized and deal with the tough situations they were put in. “I think that really speaks to the level of communication that was made throughout the game,” Schoning said. Communication became key, even when the team was down.
The loss last week is being used as a great learning opportunity for the Wildcats. By practicing competitively, and reviewing mistakes from the last game, Louisburg is ready to face the next week of matches.
This week, the Wildcats played Baldwin High School on Tuesday. Louisburg is back on track securing the 4-0 win. Goals by Mason Hull, Cody Courtney, Brody Bovaird, and Ethan Kuhlman. With 2 assists by Ryder Erickson, and 1 by Parker Powers.
