“The first season of girls golf went well. We were able to place as a team for the first time at Lamont. It was fun to see all of the girls improve each day,” junior Reese Smith said. “I wanted to step up as a role model for the younger girls playing to inspire them to be the best they can be.
Smith is hoping that the successful first year will encourage more golfers to play “Being a role model meant inspiring other girls to want to play golf,” Smith said. “Right now we have three girls total from Louisburg, so getting the participation up was important to me.”
With the strong leadership from Smith and the breakthrough 10th-place finish now in the books, the Wildcats have officially laid down a competitive blueprint for the future. The high school girls have had a breathtaking season, making the path clear of a solid foundation for their first ever season.
“I think our team has built such a strong chemistry through bonding on and off the course,” said sophomore Catlilyn George. “My favorite memory is going to Scooter before morning tournaments as a team with Coach Anderson.”
“The biggest adjustment I made this season was definitely switching to half shots. It helped me work on control, and in the end let me hit the ball way further than I was previously,” said freshman Adylinn Glasscock.
The trio has officially laid down the foundations of this team. They have rewritten the books for their very first year, and Louisburg Girls Golf has proven what is possible. Now armed with experience, with a successful postseason under their belt, and a mission to keep growing the game, the Wildcats have left no doubt that the future of the team’s next season will be bright.
