Week 2 Athlete of the Week: Trinity Moore

TRINITY MOORE, SENIOR, CROSS COUNTRY

Louisburg senior Trinity Moore put together a medal-winning performance Saturday at the Wamego Invitational. Moore finished third out of 103 runners in 21 minutes and 2 seconds and helped the Lady Cats to a fourth place team finish. The Louisburg girls are currently ranked fourth in Class 4A.

Week 1 Athlete of the Week: Braden Yows

BRADEN YOWS, SOCCER, SOPHOMORE

Louisburg sophomore Braden Yows had a good first week for the Wildcat soccer team. Yows scored a team-high four goals in Louisburg’s two wins over Fort Scott and Paola. The Louisburg midfielder also tallied three assists in the two matches. Yows has helped the Wildcats to a 3-0 record to start the season.

Week 10 Athlete of the Week: Alyse Moore

Here is the Louisburg Sports Zone Athlete of the Week for week ten of the spring sports season, sponsored by Tri-County Termite and Pest Control.

ALYSE MOORE, SOFTBALL/TRACK AND FIELD, SOPHOMORE

Louisburg sophomore Alyse Moore had a busy weekend last week as she competed at state last week in two different sports. At the state track meet in Wichita, Moore had a personal best throw of 131 feet, 9 inches to earn her first state medal as she finished fourth. Moore was also the starting shortstop for the Louisburg softball team in the Lady Cats’ loss to Andale in the first round of the state tournament.

Here is the Louisburg Sports Zone Athlete of the Week for week nine of the spring sports season, sponsored by Edward Jones-Craig Holtzen.

BROOKLYN DIEDERICH, SOFTBALL, SOPHOMORE

Sophomore Brooklyn Diederich played a big role for the Louisburg softball team in the Lady Cats’ regional title performance last week. Diederich picked up two wins and then pitched the final inning of the regional championship to get the save and helped Louisburg to its first state appearance since 2014. She also added three hits and 4 RBIs in the three games as well.

CARLEE GASSMAN, TRACK AND FIELD, JUNIOR

Louisburg junior Carlee Gassman had a busy day at the Frontier League Invitational last week. Gassman was crowned league champion in the 300 hurdles and helped the 4×400 relay to a third place finish with a personal best time. Gassman also made history as she, along with Rain Pugh, Jordon Leach and Sydni Keagle broke the school record in the 4×100 relay as they took second overall. Gassman also scored points in the long jump as she finished fifth.

ERIN LEMKE, GIRLS SOCCER, JUNIOR

Louisburg junior Erin Lemke had a big week for the Wildcat soccer team as she helped Louisburg to wins over Basehor-Linwood and Bonner Springs. Lemke scored a season-best four goals in the victory over Basehor and then recorded three assists between the two matches last week. Going into this week, Lemke had 11 goals and 11 assists on the season.

BECKETT RASMUSSEN, BASEBALL, SENIOR

Louisburg senior Beckett Rasmussen had a big day with the bat Friday in the Wildcats’ doubleheader with Osawatomie. Rasmussen finished the two games with four hits, including a pair of doubles, and had six RBIs, including five in one game in a sweep of the Trojans. He is currently hitting .367 on the year with 18 hits, five doubles and nine RBIs in 49 at bats.

CALVIN DILLON, GOLF, JUNIOR

Louisburg junior Calvin Dillon put together one of his best tournaments of the season last week during the Frontier League and Spring Hill Invitational. Dillon carded a 75 at Sycamore Ridge and won his second consecutive league title and helped the Wildcats to third place team finish. He also took third at Osawatomie and helped Louisburg to a second place finish.

BLUE CAPLINGER, TRACK AND FIELD, SENIOR

Louisburg senior Blue Caplinger had a big night Thursday at the Anderson County Invitational as he left the meet with three gold medals. Caplinger won the 100 and 200-meter dashes and later helped the 4×400 relay to a first place finish. As a team, the Wildcats took second overall in the meet.

DELANEY WRIGHT, TRACK AND FIELD, FRESHMAN

Louisburg freshman Delaney Wright made a big first impression on the Lady Cat track and field team. Wright recorded eight medals in her first two meets in Leavenworth and Paola last week. Wright won the long jump at Leavenworth and helped the 4×400 relay to a victory in Paola. She also had a pair of runner-up finishes at Paola as well.
