RYAN OWENS, WRESTLING, SOPHOMORE

Louisburg sophomore Ryan Owens had a big week for the Wildcat wrestling team as he finished with a 6-0 record at 120 pounds, including five wins at the Tonganoxie tournament Saturday. He also bumped up two weights during the Wildcats’ dual against Olathe West and picked up a key win in their victory.

Here is the Louisburg Sports Zone Athlete of the Week for week two of the winter sports season, sponsored by Elliott Insurance.

NOAH HILL, BOYS BASKETBALL, SENIOR

Louisburg senior Noah Hill was a big factor for the Wildcat boys basketball team last week as he helped them to a 1-1 record. Hill averaged a double-double in the two games with 11 points and 10 rebounds in a win over Burlington and an overtime loss to Anderson County.

ALYSE MOORE, GIRLS BASKETBALL, SOPHOMORE

 

Louisburg sophomore Alyse Moore had a good start to the season for the Lady Cats. Moore, who helped the Lady Cats to a 58-26 win over Tonganoxie in their season opener, finished with a team-high seven steals on the night to go along with her 13 points, three rebounds and three assists.

Week 9 Athlete of the Week: Anna Dixon

Here is the Louisburg Sports Zone Athlete of the Week for week nine of the fall sports season, sponsored by Midwest Collision.

ANNA DIXON, VOLLEYBALL, SENIOR

 

Louisburg’s Anna Dixon just completed her final season for the Louisburg volleyball team as she helped the Lady Cats to a state runner-up finish last weekend in Hutchinson. Dixon played all six rotations for Louisburg as she was first on the team with 574 kills on the year. Along with that, she was second on the Lady Cats with 50 aces. Defensively, Dixon was also key for Louisburg as she was second on the team with 52 blocks and 319 digs. She guided the Lady Cats to a 36-9 record on the season.

MADDEN RUTHERFORD, FOOTBALL, JUNIOR

 

Louisburg junior quarterback Madden Rutherford made a big impact for the Wildcats on Friday as he led Louisburg to a 25-7 win over rival Paola to capture a league title and the No. 1 seed in the state playoffs. Rutherford threw for 172 yards and two touchdowns, rushed for 51 yards and a touchdown and also caught another score for 9 yards.

TRINITY MOORE, CROSS COUNTRY, JUNIOR

 

Louisburg junior Trinity Moore earned herself a spot as one of the top runners in the Frontier League last Thursday in Baldwin. Moore finished third overall at the Frontier League Invitational in 19 minutes and 57 seconds to garner another league medal. Moore also earned first team all-Frontier League honors with her performance.

KIEFER TUCKER, FOOTBALL, SENIOR

 

The Louisburg football team won the game, and the battle up front, against Atchison last week and Wildcat senior Kiefer Tucker was a big reason why. Tucker, who plays guard, helped pave the way for 393 yards on the ground. On defense, Tucker also played well as he was second on the team with 7 tackles from his defensive end spot as the Wildcats held Atchison to just 34 yards rushing.

REESE JOHNSON, CROSS COUNTRY, FRESHMAN

 

Louisburg freshman Reese Johnson has only run three races for the Louisburg High School girls cross country team, but she has already made a name for herself and that continued Thursday in Pittsburg. Johnson medaled eighth overall in 19:56, and that time puts her in the No. 2 spot on the school’s all-time leaderboard. It also helped the Lady Cats to a third-place team finish.

RILEY KALLEVIG, VOLLEYBALL, JUNIOR

 

Louisburg junior Riley Kallevig was a big spark this week for the Louisburg volleyball team. Kallevig helped the Lady Cats to an 8-0 record, including a first place finish at the Louisburg Invitational. Kallevig, who plays all the way around, finished with 66 digs, 22 kills and 19 aces over the eight matches.

AUSTIN MOORE, FOOTBALL, SENIOR

 

Louisburg senior Austin Moore had a monster week on the gridiron. Moore rushed for 111 yards and three touchdowns in the Wildcats’ win over Baldwin last Friday. He was also all over the field on defense as he led Louisburg with nine tackles, two forced fumbles, a tackle for a loss, one sack and a blocked punt.
