T.J. DOVER, SENIOR, BASKETBALL

Louisburg High School senior T.J. Dover helped the Wildcat basketball team get a big road win Friday in Spring Hill. Dover scored seven of his nine points in the overtime, including a shot at the buzzer to give Louisburg a 43-42 win over the Broncos. Dover also finished with eight points and six rebounds in a win over Baldwin earlier in the week.

OWEN STAVER, SENIOR, WRESTLING

LHS senior Owen Staver ended his wrestling career on a good note Saturday as he helped the Wildcats to a second straight Frontier League championship. Staver moved up from junior varsity and cut weight to fill a much-needed open spot. He finished third at 160 pounds with a 4-2 record on the day in his final competition of the season.

TAYLER LANCASTER, SENIOR, BASKETBALL

Louisburg High School senior Tayler Lancaster was an instrumental piece in the Lady Cats’ 57-33 win over Eudora on Friday. Not only did she score in double figures with 13 points, but also had eight of the team’s 15 steals on the night to give the Lady Cats their seventh win on the season.

MASON KOECHNER, SENIOR, WRESTLING

LHS senior wrestler Mason Koechner finished his week with six wins, including a championship at the Baldwin Invitational on Saturday. Koechner, the state’s No. 2 ranked heavyweight in Class 4A, defeated Santa Fe Trail’s Jake Hastings, who is ranked No. 5, to win the 285-pound crown. Koechner also had three pins on Saturday and another pin during the Wildcats’ dual Thursday against Ottawa.

GRANT HARDING, SENIOR, BASKETBALL

Louisburg High School senior Grant Harding had a big week for the Wildcat boys basketball team as he scored 24 points to help the Wildcats to a win over Baldwin in the fifth place game of the Baldwin Invitational. Harding scored 52 points in the three tournament games and earned all-tournament team honors.

AUSTIN RAETZEL, SENIOR, WRESTLING

Louisburg junior Thad Hendrix put on a nice performance in front of the home fans Saturday during the Wildcat Classic. Hendrix won the Louisburg tournament at 106 pounds and helped the Wildcats to a second place team finish. Hendrix was 5-0 on the day with five pins and was one of eight Wildcats to finish in the top four.

MADISEN SIMPSON, SENIOR, BASKETBALL

Louisburg High School senior Madisen Simpson put together a career-best performance Monday in the Lady Cats’ win over Ottawa. Simpson scored a career-high 28 points, including six 3-pointers, to lead Louisburg to a 55-40 victory and its third straight win. Last week, Simpson also scored a team-high 14 points in the Lady Cats’ 43-23 win over Eudora.

CARSON BUFFINGTON, SOPHOMORE, BASKETBALL

Louisburg sophomore Carson Buffington had a record-breaking week for the Lady Cat basketball team. On Dec. 2, Buffington broke her own school rebounding record with a total of 18 rebounds against Pittsburg. Four days later, Buffington shattered that mark. Against Burlington on Dec. 5, she pulled down a new career-high 22 boards. Through the first four games of the season, Buffington has averaged close to 14 rebounds a contest.

AUSTIN MOORE, SOPHOMORE, FOOTBALL

Louisburg sophomore Austin Moore had his biggest game of the season Friday as he helped the Wildcat football team to a 35-7 win over Paola. Moore rushed for 122 yards on 15 carries and scored four touchdowns. He also had a a team-high eight tackles on defense, including two for a loss and an interception.
