Reese Johnson, Junior, Girls Soccer

Louisburg junior Reese Johnson has been one of the veteran leaders for the Wildcat girls soccer team and it showed up at the right time last week. The Wildcats were tied with Eudora in double overtime of the regional championship match, but with 12 seconds left Johnson got the game-winning assist on a goal from Lexi Hampton to help the Wildcats to their fifth regional title.

On the season, Johnson has initiated a lot of the attack for Louisburg as she is second on the team with eight assists and also has nine goals on the year. Johnson and the Wildcats will compete in the Class 4-1A Final Four this weekend in Wichita.

Along with that, Moore’s throw of 149-0 was good for the second best throw in the state. It is also the fourth best throw in the entire country. She has also won every javelin competition this year, with the exception of one, and will look to break that record again as the year goes on as she competes for a state title.

The next day, Eberhart played on the difficult Sycamore Ridge Golf Course in Spring Hill for the league meet and fired an 86 to medal fourth overall in the Frontier League. His score also helped the Wildcats to a third place league finish, just three strokes behind first.

Konnor Vohs, Senior, Boys Basketball

Louisburg senior Konnor Vohs came up with several big plays this past week to help the Wildcats to their first state championship, but none were bigger than with nine seconds left in the state semifinals against Augusta last Thursday. Louisburg held a 3-point lead, but Vohs stepped to the free-throw line for two shots and knocked them both down to seal the victory for the Wildcats.

Vohs, who has been one of the team’s best defenders all season, did the same last week. He helped the Wildcats to two wins, including a state quarterfinal victory over Parsons and the win over Augusta to put Louisburg into the championship game.
