JULIAN MARGRAVE, JUNIOR, BOYS BASKETBALL

Louisburg junior Julian Margrave had a big week for the Wildcat boys basketball team as he helped the Wildcats to their first two wins of the season. His biggest game came last week against Harrisonville as he scored 26 points in an overtime victory, which was the Wildcats’ first of the season.

On the week, Margrave averaged 19.5 points a game to go along with 7.5 rebounds and 2.5 blocks.

JORDAN MYNSTED, JUNIOR, GIRLS BASKETBALL

Louisburg junior Jordan Mynsted gave her Lady Cat team the spark they were looking for in their season opening win Friday against Tonganoxie. Mynsted scored a game-high 22 points and seven rebounds in the Lady Cats’ 49-37 win over the Chieftains.

Mynsted came up big for Louisburg in the fourth quarter as she scored 12 straight points to help the Lady Cats build a double-digit lead and sealed the win for Louisburg.

TRESTON CARLSON, SENIOR, BOYS SOCCER

Louisburg senior Treston Carlson was a big part of the Wildcat soccer team’s success this past weekend in Wichita. Carlson scored a goal in the team’s 3-0 win over Rose Hill in the Class 4-1A third-place match Saturday and put together five shots on goal for the tournament.

On the season, Carlson scored a team-high 16 goals on the year to go along with five assists. He also added eight game-winning goals as the Wildcats finished the season with a 16-2 record and recorded the best finish in school history.

MADDY RHAMY, FRESHMAN, CROSS COUNTRY

Louisburg freshman Maddy Rhamy saved one of her best performances for last. Rhamy helped the Lady Cat cross country team to a third-place finish at the Class 4A state meet Saturday in Wamego and made school history as they became the first time to place at state.

In doing so, Rhamy earned a state medal as she led Louisburg with an eighth-place finish with a time of 20 minutes and 58 seconds. She was one of three Lady Cats to medal, along with fellow freshman Lola Edwards and Reese Johnson.

BRADEN YOWS, JUNIOR, BOYS SOCCER

Louisburg’s Braden Yows has facilitated a lot of the Wildcat offense this season for the boys soccer team and that continued last Thursday. Yows, a junior midfielder and team captain, finished the game with a team-high two assists and also had a goal in the Wildcats’ 6-0 win over Piper.

The victory gave the Wildcats their second consecutive Frontier League title. Yows leads Louisburg with 15 assists on the season and he also has six goals.

Senior Alyse Moore had a big week for the Louisburg volleyball team as it played six matches in span of three days and against three ranked teams. Moore helped her team all around the court as she recorded 38 digs to help the Louisburg defense, including eight in the win over No. 5 Blue Valley. She also added 35 kills at the net to guide Louisburg to a 4-2 finish on the week and a 21-9 record on the year.

Louisburg sophomore Cade Gassman helped the Wildcats to a big road win at Eudora last week. Gassman scored two of the team’s four goals, and also added an assist. The Wildcat forward also had four shots on goal against Eudora and Spring Hill earlier in the week, and took 10 shots overall. On the season, Gassman has seven goals to go along with four assists.

CARSON HOUCHEN, SENIOR, CROSS COUNTRY

Louisburg senior Carson Houchen has guided the Wildcat boys cross country team for most of the season and that continued Thursday at the Perry-Lecompton Invitational. Houchen led the Wildcats with a ninth place finish in 20 minutes and 45 seconds to earn a medal. This was his fourth consecutive medal to start the season as he also had top 10 finishes at Wellsville and Prairie View.

Louisburg junior Rinny McMullen was a big spark in helping the Lady Cat volleyball team to five straight wins last week. McMullen, one of the team’s setters, finished the week with 78 assists, 41 kills, 22 digs and nine aces as she helped the Lady Cats to an 11-5 record on the year.

LOGAN FAULKNER, SENIOR, BOYS SOCCER

Louisburg senior Logan Faulkner had a memorable day during the Wildcats’ 8-2 victory over Bonner Springs last Saturday. In just 45 minutes of action, the Wildcat midfielder recorded a hat trick with a pair of first half goals and then completed the trifecta with a penalty kick in the second. It was also the Wildcats’ first game back after having a nearly two week layoff.
